Acceptance of terms of service

By accessing or using Collegemate, you agree to these terms of use and our privacy policy.

Description of service

Collegemate LLC operates an online social platform that enables incoming college freshmen to fill out forms, connect with peers, and find compatible roommates. We currently offer profile posting and roommate matching, with the option to add new services under the same terms. Paid offerings are for promotional posting and related services (such as featuring your profile on our channels); we do not guarantee any particular level of engagement, comments, reach, or other outcomes from posts or matches.

Eligibility and minors

By using this service, you represent that you are at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, or that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the service. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian assumes responsibility for your use of the service and any content you submit or purchases made on your behalf. If you submit content or make a purchase on behalf of a minor, the submitting adult agrees to be bound by these terms and assumes full responsibility for the minor's use of the service.

User registration

We don't create user accounts—instead, you sign up by completing your first form. We collect the information you submit through each form; for a complete list of data categories and our handling practices, please see our privacy policy.

User conduct

Keep it respectful: no rude, violent, or foul language, and nothing unlawful, harassing, or defamatory. Users agree not to post harmful, abusive, or defamatory content. You may only submit content for yourself—not on behalf of someone else (except where a parent or guardian submits on behalf of a minor as described above). Each Get Posted submission is for one person. You may tag friends in your photos. You may not submit a post on behalf of two or more people, or present a caption as a shared intro for multiple people (for example, "hi we are Alex and Jordan"). If you do, we may decline to publish it. Payments for those submissions are not refundable. You may edit the post so it is clearly for one person, and we can then review it for publishing. Spam, misuse, fraud, or other bad-faith behavior isn't allowed. Use Collegemate to connect and collaborate in good faith. Violations may result in removal of your content, suspension or banning of access, and, at our discretion, notification to your university or other relevant authorities.

You can report inappropriate content or behavior by emailing support@thecollegemate.com. We will review reports and may take action at our sole discretion, but we are not obligated to monitor all content or to respond within a specific timeframe.

User-generated content and moderation

We are not responsible for user-generated content, including comments, messages, or interactions between users on Collegemate or on third-party platforms where content may appear. Opinions expressed by users do not reflect our views, and we do not endorse user content.

We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to monitor, remove, or edit content at our discretion, with or without notice.

Flagged or risky posts

Before we publish a paid post, we may automatically review your photos, caption, and other submitted information. A post may be flagged as risky if we believe it may violate these terms—for example, because it contains inappropriate language or imagery, appears spam-like or incoherent, the caption clearly presents two or more people as the subject of a single post, or otherwise suggests the content may not be safe to publish on our channels or on Instagram.

What it means. If your post is flagged as risky, we will not publish it until the issue is resolved. Your submission stays on hold while we review it.

No refunds. Payments for posts flagged under these terms are not eligible for refunds. This is separate from refund requests described in Payments & refunds below; flagged posts due to a terms violation are not refundable.

Working with you. In many cases we can still publish your post if you update the content that caused the flag—for example, by editing your caption so it is clearly for one person, or replacing photos. Contact us and we'll tell you what needs to change. Editing is allowed; flagged posts are still not refundable.

If we're wrong. If you believe the flag is incorrect, or that it was caused by a bug on our end, contact support@thecollegemate.com. We will review your submission and correct any mistake on our side.

Third-party platforms (Instagram and Meta)

Our services are provided in part through third-party platforms, including Instagram (operated by Meta Platforms, Inc. and its affiliates). We do not control Instagram's or Meta's policies, algorithms, outages, comment systems, or moderation decisions. We are not responsible for platform downtime, comment functionality, moderation limitations, or any content that is removed, restricted, or otherwise affected by Instagram or Meta—including post deletions, account suspensions, comment limitations, or reduced visibility.

Account ban risk. By using our promotional or posting-related services, you understand and accept that your account on Instagram or other third-party platforms may be suspended, restricted, or permanently banned under those platforms' rules and enforcement, which is outside Collegemate's control. That risk exists even when you follow our instructions and these terms.

No refunds or credits will be issued automatically for issues resulting solely from actions taken by Instagram, Meta, or other third-party platforms outside our reasonable control. If you wish to ask for a refund in any circumstance, you must submit a request as described in Payments & refunds below; granting any refund remains at our discretion and subject to these terms and applicable law.

By purchasing our services, you acknowledge that Instagram and similar platforms may remove or restrict content at their sole discretion, and Collegemate LLC is not liable for any resulting loss of exposure, engagement, or access.

Intellectual property

All content on Collegemate—including text, graphics, logos, and software—is owned by Collegemate LLC or its licensors. You may view and share content for personal, non-commercial use only. Other uses require our written permission.

Privacy & data security

We implement industry-standard safeguards to protect your information and retain it until you request deletion. See our privacy policy for full details on data handling and user rights.

Payments & refunds

For paid forms, we collect payment and billing information upon submission. Payment is for promotional posting and related services only; we do not guarantee engagement, comments, matches, or other outcomes. All fees are final except as required by law. We don't issue refunds if you've violated these terms, or for issues arising solely from third-party platforms as described in these terms.

No automatic refunds. Refunds are not issued automatically for any reason—including account suspension or banning on Collegemate or on third-party platforms, removal of content, or service outcomes. To request a refund, you must contact us directly by emailing support@thecollegemate.com (using a clear refund request). We only review refund requests we receive through that channel; we do not proactively distribute or process refunds without a request from you. Any refund remains subject to these terms and applicable law, and approval is not guaranteed. When we approve your refund request, we will issue the refund within three (3) business days (Monday through Friday, excluding U.S. federal holidays).

No warranty; user interactions

The platform is provided "as is" to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee the behavior, identity, accuracy of information, or conduct of any users and are not responsible for interactions that occur on or off the platform, including meetings or arrangements between users. You are solely responsible for your decisions and communications with other users.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Collegemate LLC and its owners, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or related to your use of the platform, including harm caused by other users, third-party platforms, or content you encounter.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Collegemate LLC and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your content, your use of the services, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any rights of another person or entity.

Dispute resolution

Disputes will first be addressed through good-faith negotiations. Unresolved disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for violations of these terms. You may end your use by discontinuing access. Suspension or termination (including banning or loss of access for any reason) does not trigger any automatic refund; if you believe a refund may apply, you must submit a request as described in Payments & refunds.

Changes to terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use after revisions constitutes acceptance.
